"Violence Prevention and Safety'' follows Oscar Cisneros as he struggles with the environment of violence and gang activity in his community. He is not optimistic about the future and is at risk of joining a local gang. Through reflection, encouragement from his friends, and adult intervention, Oscar will discover a hope for the future again and start making new goals and plans.  This lesson answers the following questions:  -What are the steps for basic first-aid? -What are the different forms of family violence? -How can teens avoid joining gangs?  This lesson is for grades 6-8.  How can I teach my students to prevent violence? In this lesson on violence prevention and safety, students will learn about basic first-aid procedures, including CPR and choking rescue, as well as discuss ways to stay safe from violence.
