Motivation

"What is Mental Health?" (New York version) follows Sam, who has a hard time fitting in at her new school. Through Sam's story, students analyze how external factors, such as social groups, influence mental and emotional health. In this lesson, students will brainstorm habits that impact mental health and examine ways to promote resiliency in others in stressful situations as well as influence peers positively. In addition, students will set SMART goals to improve mental health.   This lesson answers the following questions: -How does mental health impact physical health? -What does it mean to be emotionally healthy? -What is a SMART goal?  This lesson is for grades 6-8.  How do I talk to my students about mental health? In this lesson on mental health, students will learn about the meaning and importance of mental health, as well as its connection to physical health. Students will identify the characteristics of emotionally healthy individuals as well as strategies to improve meantl health, such as setting SMART goals.  How do I teach my child to manage emotional stress? If you are a parent and want to talk about healthy techniques for managing reactions in times of emotional stress, this lesson is for you!
