"Making Healthy Choices'' (Texas version) follows three friends as they explore their community for signs of healthy habits and choices. In addition to reflecting on the consequences of healthy and unhealthy lifestyles, students also learn how the media influences buying decisions regarding nutritional products. In addition, students identify strategies for choosing healthy foods and beverages in diverse social environments.  This lesson answers all of the questions from the original ''Making Healthy Choices'' along with these additional questions: -How does the media influence buying decisions? -How can I reduce the risk of developing chronic conditions? -How can I use health information to help others?  This lesson is for grades 6-8.  How can I teach my students how to reduce the risk of chronic conditions? In this Texas version of Making Healthy Choices, students will learn how to reduce the risk of diabetes and other chronic conditions by avoiding risky behaviors and practicing healthy ones, such as exercising, visiting the doctor regularly, and getting enough sleep.  How do I talk to my child about seizure awareness? If you are a parent and want to talk about self help skills regarding seizure awareness, this lesson is for you!
